GET INVOLVED

The Glasgow City Woodland Initiative(CWI) aims to spread the social, environmental and economic benefits of tree and woodlands throughout Glasgow. The Glasgow Woodland Unit and the CWI Network partners are engaged in a programme of looking at the condition of, and management options for, local woodlands. Akey aspect of which involves consulting the communities and interest groups in Glasgow about the management issues affecting their local woodland. These can range from litter removal to new paths, fencing and sign posting. Using woodland walks and other means the Glasgow Woodland Unit and City Woodland Initiative Network partners will encourage people to contribute practically to the process by:

The outcome of this work will result in a set of management options for the local woodland being presented to stakeholders. To achieve a wide spectrum of community opinion and involvement, meetings with community councils, youth groups, other organisations and the general public, using such places as libraries or shopping centres, will take place and postal surveys will also be undertaken. The community's responses will inform the creation of appropriate local woodland management regimes and the extent of any associated grant applications or fundraising initiatives.
An email newsletter will be used to keep interested people informed about events and activities within Glasgow's woodlands. Please confirm by Email if you wish to receive a copy. In addition if you are aware of management issues and/or would like to assist in producing a solution please get in touch at XXXXXXXXX
