CROOKSTON PATH CREATION

New path creation works in Crookston have just started!  Contractors have just begun constructing the new path in Crookston Wood.

Works have just commenced on creating over 1.7km of new paths within the woodland areas of Crookston.  There will also be over 400m of path resurfacing to maintain existing paths.  The new paths have been designed to bring more formal access to woods that are currently only served by informal path networks, the paths are constructed from type 1 aggregate with a whin dust topping that is compacted and bound to the base to give a strong and long life path that suits a woodland setting.  Drainage, fencing and access features are also part of the works.

Two woods will receive the most works, with over 1000m of paths being created in the pine and beech woodland of Crookston Wood, situated around Mcgill Primary School (now disused), and over 700m of path creation in two more rural woodland blocks in Roughmussel (south of Bull Wood).

Work should be completed by the end of February.

Please be careful if walking through the woodlands during the operations as machinery will be in use.
