The Glasgow City Woodland Initiative aims to keep Glasgow, 'a dear green place' through a commitment to the sustainable management of its tree resource over the long-term.

To realize this the City Woodland Initiative is involved in identifying and implementing mechanisms to achieve a City wide continuously balanced geographical cover of trees by age class structure and species in order to maximise the environmental, social, health, welfare and economic benefits that increased investment in urban woodland can deliver.
